As we have learned, we can't rely on ocean fertilization as the solution to climate change. Essentially, the only thing we can do is to reduce our carbon emission to the atmosphere. Here are some suggestions that you can do to help protect the phytoplankton and entire marine ecosystem. Each individual can reduce his or her carbon footprint to help with ocean acidification. We can start by leaving our cars at home and start using public transportation. An alternative way could be walking. This will not only help mitigate climate change but also good for your health. Another way we can stop changing the chemistry of the ocean is to properly dispose hazardous materials. We should avoid dumping oil down the drain because these drains travel straight down to river and ultimately the ocean. We can also participate in costal clean up to reduce the amount of trash in the ocean. One last thing you can do is to educate people around you about the climate change.
